Northern Hawk Owl painted on a naturally moulted seagull feather.

This is something I've been wanting to try for a while. I hope to get a hold of some moulted feathers from parrots, or maybe domestic geese, chickens or turkeys. But especially parrot feathers. The amazon at the pet store has a lovely, slightly iridescent quality to her feathers. I couldn't think of a more beautiful canvas on which to paint. :D

Acrylic paint on a naturally moulted seagull feather. No birds were harmed to make this painting. Special thanks to my friend Kaitlyn for providing me with the feather.

Wow, I love the realism! There's something about feather-painting that is just so beautiful. :)

This is so incredible! Painting an owl is difficult as it is, but using a feather as a canvas? That's so creative and clever, I love it!
